Who are we?
Little Giants Nursery, Brunel is based in the Old School House building, previously part of the Brunel University Campus. We are named after the English civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who is considered one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history. He was only 5ft 3in tall, but his nickname ‘Little Giant’ indicates that while his physical stature was small, his influence and his ambition was vast.
Isambard Brunel is identified as the 2nd greatest Briton in history and Little Giants Nursery, Brunel aims to live up to his grand legacy. From a very young age Brunel understood how maths impacted the world around him. Our nursery curriculum will nurture children’s understanding of how subjects such as maths can be applied every day, all around us. Through supported play we promote a joy of learning, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and imagination. We conceive early year’s education as being geared towards making learning fun and applicable to everyday life, echoing the spirit and vision of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Our motto also follows Brunel’s personal motto ‘en avant’ which translates to ‘keep moving forward and get ahead’. His accomplishments certainly point to this principle being lived out and at Little Giants Nursery, our ambition is to inspire all children to take giant leaps forward, as we prepare them for school & beyond. Our aims are innovative and ambitious– to give each child high quality care and education and nurture early learning and personal skills needed for success as they take their next steps into world.
